Job purpose:
Carry out Daycamp duties to ensure the department runs smoothly. Tasks include reading canine body language, adhering to Daycamp groups/play times, escorting Guests, and maintaining a clean, safe, fun, and interactive environment. Works closely with the Daycamp Manager and other Daycamp Staff members to ensure the health, safety, and care of all Guests.
Duties and responsibilities for Daycamp Staff:
- Demonstrate proper protocol with regard to upholding our high standard of care for all Resort Guests.
- Provide ongoing general health evaluations on Guests and administer first aid when needed
- Maintain a safe environment for Resort Guests by keeping the play areas clean and organized. Ensure that essential supplies are adequately stocked on a daily basis
- Effectively communicate with Daycamp Manager and Daycamp Supervisor regarding timeouts, altercations, Guest health, behavior, conflicts, concerns, etc..
- Continually interpret body language of all Resort Guests in an effort to minimize altercations and maintain a safe environment for all
- Exchange groups in a timely manner. Complete potty breaks quickly and efficiently
- De-escalate altercations in an appropriate manner in an effort to avoid injury to Guests and staff alike
- Schedule playtimes and direct staff to complete Daycamp duties and responsibilities
- Maintain a professional work environment by keeping on task and working as a team with your fellow Daycamp staff members, Manager and Supervisors
Qualifications:
- High school or GED preferred
- Previous animal experience/handling is a requirement!
- Certified Pet Care Technician and Pet First Aid certification preferred
- Knowledge of dog behaviors, body language and group handling preferred
Working conditions:
At least one weekend shift every week, holiday hours, 5:45AM shifts and working past 6PM on occasion, working with animals with a range of behavioral and health variations. Working outdoors during inclement weather.
Physical requirements:
This position requires periods of standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, bending down and lifting animals/objects of various sizes/weights on occasion (up to 50lbs), and handling dogs of all sizes, weights, and behavioral/training levels on lead. Must have the ability to properly restrain dogs. This job is very physically involved!
