The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the medical and psychiatric services in a in patient Detox Facility. This role includes clinical oversight of treatment plans, medical staff supervision, and ensuring high-quality client care. The Medical Director will ensure that services align with best practices, are compliant with state and federal regulations, and promote integrated care between medical and mental health services. The Medical Director plays a key role in supporting both clinical and operational success, working closely with the Clinical Director and the management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight & Treatment Planning:
- Provide oversight of psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment plans for clients.
- Review and approve treatment plans developed by clinical staff, ensuring they are evidence-based and appropriate for client needs.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment as necessary.
- Ensure that psychiatric and medical services are integrated with therapeutic interventions for comprehensive client care.
- Staff Supervision & Development:
- Supervise and support psychiatric providers, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff.
- Ensure ongoing professional development for medical staff, providing training in best practices and new developments in the field.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship to improve clinical performance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all medical services comply with state and federal regulations, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to monitor the effectiveness of treatment and client outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Collaboration & Coordination of Care:
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director and other healthcare professionals to provide a cohesive treatment experience for clients.

- Medical Policy Development & Implementation:
- Develop and implement medical policies and procedures to ensure that care is provided safely and effectively.
- Stay informed of new regulations and advancements in psychiatric care, adjusting clinic policies as necessary to reflect best practices.
- Client Relations & Advocacy:
- Serve as a medical expert for clients, helping them understand their treatment options and addressing any concerns related to medication or psychiatric care.
- Advocate for clients’ needs, ensuring that they receive the highest standard of care.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with a valid state medical license to practice psychiatry (required). Must be in good standing
- Board certification in Psychiatry (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within a SUD/mental health setting.
- Experience with outpatient care models and familiarity with managing patients in a community-based setting.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and mental health parity laws.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate care across medical and mental health services.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Work Environment:
- Primarily operates in a clinical outpatient setting, working closely with clients, clinical teams, and other medical professionals.
- Occasional off-site meetings and collaboration with external medical providers may be required.
Pay: $100.00 - $150.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
