Job Posting: Children’s and Young Adult Library Assistant
The Edgartown Library is excited to launch a brand-new role in our Youth Services Department! If you love working with kids and teens, enjoy creative program support, and want to help shape a welcoming, vibrant library space for young people and their families, this job is for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Welcome kids, teens, and caregivers into the library with warmth, enthusiasm, and helpful guidance.
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, hands-on assistance to children, teens, and caregivers.
- Support story times, crafts and workshops, and summer reading.
- Accurately maintain youth programming data for internal and state reporting.
- Create engaging displays and help maintain the children’s and teen collections.
- Design flyers, signage, social media content and other creative marketing materials for youth programs.
- Staff public service points—including the children’s room, circulation desk, and reference desk—with friendliness, professionalism, and top-notch service.
- Help with shelving, catalog navigation, troubleshooting public tech needs, answering questions, and much more.
The details: This full-time (37.5 hours/week) year-round position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience working with children, teens, or families—or relevant experience in public service or education. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
may be considered. Hourly wage range is $31.22-$44.44 in 10 steps, plus full benefits package.
