The Consulate of France in Boston is hiring a Housekeeping/Service for the Residence of France in Cambridge starting in September 2026.
Reporting to the Consul General as part of a two-person team:
Upkeep of the residence
- Laundry care, washing, storage and arrangement of household linen (towels, sheets, tablecloths).
- Housekeeping, daily cleaning of living and reception areas of the house.
- Cleaning and care of the silverware.
- Cleaning of the kitchen, washing and storage of the dishware.
Cooking and table service.
- Assisting in meal preparation.
- Welcoming of the guests.
- Table service and standing reception service (cocktails).
- Food shopping in collaboration with the Chef.
- Flower arranging.

Required qualifications
- Training and/or experience : Qualifications and experience in hospitality /catering
- Languages : Good command in English.
- Good command of French would be appreciated.
- Other skills : Sense of hospitality. Rigorous with good organizational skills.
- Availability and discretion.
- Ability to adapt and be creative.
Terms and conditions
- Working hours: 40 hours/week. Remote work is not an option for this position. The schedule may be flexible and may sometimes be adjusted for events held in the evening, on weekends, or on holidays.
- Paid leaves: 25 days / year (+ public holidays as listed by the Consulate)
- Benefits: 401(k) plan with employer contributions (specific conditions apply)
- French employees: supplemental pension and mandatory enrollment in the French general social security system. Partial coverage, subject to certain conditions, of a French supplemental health insurance plan.
- Non-French employees: option to enroll in the health insurance plan offered by the embassy, with partial coverage by the employer, or in another private health insurance plan of their choice, at the employee’s full expense.
- Salary: $ 4,216 gross paid monthly + $ 120 monthly transportation allowance.

- Type of contract: At will contract from September 1st, 2026
- Trial period: 6 months
- Other: This position does not confer any diplomatic or consular status or privileges. Employees must file their taxes with the IRS as “self-employed.”
Employment Requirements:
- You must be legally residing in the United States and eligible to work for the Consulate General; therefore, you must be a U.S. citizen, a Green Card holder, an A or G visa holder, or hold a work permit (EAD). Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
- The candidate’s hiring is subject to approval of their accreditation by the Office of Foreign Missions.
