Position Summary
The Northern Ontario Assessment and Resource Centre/Centre d’évaluation et de ressources du Nord de l’Ontario (NOARC/CERNO), located within Cambrian College, has an immediate need for a Psychometric Technician.
This is a 10-month position that continues on an ongoing basis. Employees work a 10-month schedule each year, and successful applicants will not be required to reapply for subsequent terms.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Psychological Technician to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on clinical and assessment work and is looking to build a long-term and evolving career in the field of psychology. The Psychological Technician will support psychological and psycho-educational assessment work for post-secondary colleges, universities, and Indigenous institutes across northern Ontario. This includes direct involvement with student in assessment administration, scoring, data collection, and coordination of assessment materials and processes.
The Successful Candidate Will Also
- Administer and support psychological and psycho-educational assessments
- Work directly with student in a structured, professional setting
- Score, organize, and manage assessment data and materials
- Coordinate and communicate with psychologists and psychological associates involved in student assessments
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality in testing procedures
- Support smooth day-to-day assessment operations within the team
- Support research initiatives and training
Qualifications
Required:
- Must have a four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with the application. *** For education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS assessment with their application)
- Minimum of one year of experience administering psychological assessments, or equivalent coursework or experience in the field of psychometry.
- Willingness to train in the delivery of specific tests
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to be an effective role model.
- Superior time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- High ethical standards and knowledge of relevant legislation related to the field of psychology.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team environment are required for this position.
- Competent use of technology (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License as there is travel within this role.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment is essential.
Assets/Preferred
- Research experience, which may include completion of a thesis project and/or participation in research activities through volunteering, employment, or membership on a research team.
