Position Summary
Cambrian College’s School of Nursing has an immediate requirement for a Full-Time Simulation Lab Coordinator.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chair of the School of Nursing, the Simulation Lab Coordinator oversees simulation operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, equipment maintenance and workflow coordinator.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinates and supports health and safety practices within the simulation environment, including facilitating regular inspections, maintaining required documentation (safety binders) and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards (WHMIS, OHSA)
- Oversees lab setup, flow and utilization
- Supports faculty and simulation technologists through orientation to simulation processes, workflows, and available resources to facilitate effective use of the simulation environment
- Coordinates course-based simulation lab operations
- Coordinates scheduling of simulation lab tours, demonstrations, and special events in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Supports special initiatives, including TFEE programming and external partnerships. Assists with planning, implementation and evaluation of simulation-related activities aligned with program and institutional priorities
- Coordinates preventative maintenance processes and documentation, including maintaining maintenance schedules, tracking systems and associated records.
- Collaborates with simulation technologists, facilities, and vendors to ensure timely maintenance and repair of equipment
- Supports integration of emerging technologies (e.g VR/XR)
- Coordinates in collaboration with the Chair, procurement, tracking and inventory control of simulation supplies and materials
- Ensures appropriate setup and availability of equipment and resources to support simulation activities while maintaining cost-effective practices
- Supports coordination of staff and faculty activities within the simulation environment, including onboarding, orientation and promoting consistent application of simulation processes and procedures
- Supports alignment with INACSL and best practice standards
- Participates in program planning, partnerships and innovation
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 2-year diploma or equivalent in a healthcare related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a healthcare or related field
- Self-directed individual with the ability to balance multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise tact and good judgment when working directly with College staff and students.
- Collaborative and dynamic professional who promotes teamwork and works cohesively within a team oriented environment.
Additional Assets/Preferred
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
- Experience or education in simulation.
