Fairway Lawn Care Corporation is seeking an experienced and dependable Senior Irrigation Technician to lead the service, maintenance, and repair of underground irrigation systems across our commercial and high-end residential properties. This role requires strong technical expertise, independent decision-making in the field, and the ability to diagnose and resolve irrigation issues efficiently to maintain optimal turf health and performance of both commercial and residential systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform system start-ups and winterizations for all assigned properties
- Conduct system inspections and proactively identify issues impacting performance
- Diagnose and repair:
- Valves, solenoids, and wiring faults
- Mainline and lateral line breaks
- Controller and timer issues (including smart controllers)
- Backflow components (in coordination with certified testers if required)
- Adjust systems for seasonal and weather-related efficiency
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using multimeters and other diagnostic tools
- Program and manage irrigation controllers (Hunter, Rain Bird, etc.)
- Operate equipment including trenchers, pipe pullers, and mini skid steers as needed
- Document all work performed, including labor time, materials used, and site conditions
- Communicate clearly with management regarding system conditions, recommended upgrades, and urgent repairs
- Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure proper inventory of parts and tools
- Support installation projects as needed and assist in training junior technicians
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in irrigation service and repair (commercial experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of underground irrigation systems and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience with major irrigation brands (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro)
- Ability to read irrigation plans and as-built drawings
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage a service route efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to dig, trench, and perform physically demanding tasks
