Licensed Mental Health Counselor – Foster Care & Family Support
Salary: $68,000–$75,000
Are you a licensed or license-eligible Mental Health Counselor who wants your work to truly matter? Join a mission-driven team providing trauma-informed mental health services to youth in foster care and the families who support them.
In this role, you’ll deliver home- and community-based counseling services focused on emotional healing, placement stability, and long-term family success. You’ll partner closely with foster families, biological families, child welfare agencies, and internal care teams to support youth through complex life transitions.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling to youth involved in the foster care system
- Lead family-centered interventions that strengthen relationships and promote stability
- Conduct intakes, biopsychosocial assessments, and ongoing clinical documentation
- Respond to crises and provide on-call or scheduled crisis support as needed
- Coordinate care and case management with DCF/child welfare, schools, and community providers
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to guide treatment planning
- Deliver services in homes, schools, and community settings
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field
- Licensed or license-eligible (LMHC, LCSW, LICSW, LMFT or equivalent)
- Experience or strong interest in foster care, child welfare, trauma, or family systems
- Ability to work independently in the community and collaborate within a team
- Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills
