Job Description: Social Media Content ManagerRole Summary
We are looking for a creative powerhouse to lead the social media voice of Marathon Sports. You will be the primary social storyteller for our brand, responsible for capturing the energy of the New England running scene and the technical excellence of our products. This is a "boots on the ground" role — you’ll be at the finish lines, the 6:00 AM track workouts, and the store floors, creating high-frequency, high-impact content that converts.
Key Responsibilities
- Multimedia Production: End-to-end creation of short-form video (Reels, TikTok) and high-quality photography. You aren't just "using an iPhone"; you understand lighting, pacing, and trend-native editing.
- Brand Storytelling: Moving beyond "product shots" to tell the human stories of our runners, employees, vendors, and community partners.
- Channel Management & Frequency: Owning the content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and emerging platforms, ensuring a consistent and daily presence.
- Strategic Collaboration: While you are the primary creator, you will act as the "creative director" for external agency photographers and facilitate our paid social program to ensure organic wins are amplified by spend.
- Community Engagement: Managing the "vibe" of the comments section and fostering real-world community through digital interaction.
The "Must-Haves" (Qualifications)
- The Portfolio: A visible, successful track record of building an audience (either for a personal brand or a previous company). We want to see "the receipts."
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Lightroom) or advanced mobile editing tools (CapCut, etc.).
- Running Fluency: You don't have to be a sub-3:00 marathoner, but you must understand "the life"—the gear, the culture, and why people show up to run in a nor'easter.
- Independence: The ability to see a story, grab a camera, and execute without a five-person crew.
Other Requirements
- Location & Work Environment: This is a locally based role. The Social Media Manager must be available to work onsite at our Waltham, MA office when not capturing content at stores, community runs, or events. This is not a fully remote position.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel frequently to Marathon Sports retail locations and events across New England (MA, CT, RI, NH, ME, VT). Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support store activations, brand events, and community runs.
