Job Overview
The Shop Foreman plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations within the glass shop, managing a team of technicians and ensuring the efficient production and delivery of glass products and services. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in glasswork, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Shop Foreman will act as a key liaison between the shop floor and management, ensuring smooth workflows and exceptional results.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of glass technicians, fabricators, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Production Oversight: Manage daily shop operations, including glass cutting, shaping, and fabrication processes, ensuring high-quality output.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Plan and prioritize work schedules to meet project deadlines and customer requirements. Coordinate with other departments for seamless project execution.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet industry standards and customer specifications. Address any defects or issues promptly.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the operation and maintenance of shop equipment, such as glass cutters, polishers, and washer, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations. Conduct regular safety training and inspections.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of glass materials, tools, and supplies to prevent shortages and minimize waste.
- Customer Interaction: Handle customer inquiries, provide technical expertise, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with all services.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for improving shop efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and employee performance. Prepare reports as needed for management review.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in glass fabrication, installation, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in glass cutting, edging, and installation techniques. Familiarity with shop equipment, including fork lift, glass polishers, and other tools.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and regulations, with a track record of maintaining a safe work environment.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license required. OSHA 30
Working Conditions
- The role is based in a glass shop environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Standard work hours are Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–3:30 PM], with overtime or weekend work as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves, will be required and provided.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
