Job Overview
As Hydrow’s People & Culture Lead, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an environment where individuals and the organization can thrive as we continue to grow & scale. The People Operations function is one that will support and align with the organization’s business goals, objectives, and strategies while also honoring each individual’s contribution to and journey at Hydrow.

Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employees, providing guidance on workplace policies, resolving concerns, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee benefits enrollment, answer employee questions, and collaborate with providers to resolve issues. Lead our annual open enrollment process, from planning meetings with brokers, to presenting and guiding employees through benefits selection.
- HR Administration: Maintain and update employee records, manage HRIS systems, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Recruiting, Hiring, and Onboarding: Administer our applicant tracking system (Lever), assist hiring managers with listing roles and managing interviews. Coordinate offers being made. Work with hiring managers, IT, and others on the onboarding of new employees.
- Performance Management: Support the implementation and administration of performance review cycles and employee development initiatives.
- Payroll - Manage end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely bi-weekly compensation in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Policy Development: Assist in drafting, updating, and communicating company policies, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and company culture.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to employment regulations in multiple states, maintain required documentation, and oversee processes like FMLA and accommodations under ADA.
- HR Projects: Collaborate on strategic HR initiatives, including workforce planning and employee engagement strategies.
For Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in human resources with a background in benefits administration, HR systems, payroll, and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as SHRM or PHR are preferred
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Experience managing Leaves of Absence
- Experience working with HR platforms and tools to build and implement more efficient workflows and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to manage and analyze data using Excel and Google Sheets
- Passionate about being there for employees
- Able to work onsite in our Boston Seaport office, 3 days per week
- Experience working in a smaller organization and familiarity with all aspects of HR
