Senior Accountant – General Ledger
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team, with a focus on general ledger accounting. This role is instrumental in ensuring accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, maintaining strong internal controls, and support the integrity of financial data related to revenue streams, asset operations, and other core accounting areas. The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to the month-end close, financial reporting, and ongoing system improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including the preparation of accurate and timely journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review recurring and ad hoc journal entries across key areas such as cash, accrual, prepaid, debt, revenue, payroll, and benefits.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and select P&L accounts.
- Reconcile subledgers to the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Record intercompany transactions and prepare intercompany monthly reconciliations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insight to support business decisions.
- Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and variance (flux) analysis.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal policies, and internal controls.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, including support the weekly cash flow forecast.
- Provide audit support by responding to internal and external audit requests and preparing supporting documentation.
- Participate in ERP system implementation and enhancements and support automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to documentation and systemization of accounting processes and controls.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, with potential to supervise as the team grows.
- Perform other ad hoc projects or assignments as needed.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or CPA track preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate environment.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, NetSuite); ERP implementation experience is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach and a “can-do” attitude.
