What Liminal Is
A Founders' Studio. We co-build with repeat founders, many of them unicorn founders, providing build expertise, capital, and unfair access from founding to Series B. We call ourselves a Founders' Studio because "venture studio" undersells what we do and oversells what most of them deliver.
What This Role Actually Is
Project management has a reputation problem, mostly earned. Status meetings about status meetings. Gantt charts as wall art. Templates mistaken for thinking. None of that survives here, because at zero-to-one there's no PMO to hide in. There's a venture that has to ship, a dozen moving pieces, and a founder who needs one person who always knows where things actually stand, rather than where the slide says they stand.
Zero-to-one companies don't suffer from a lack of ideas. They suffer from too many priorities, too many dependencies, and too little visibility. Your job is to create order without bureaucracy. You're not here to administer process. You're here to increase the velocity of everyone around you. Momentum is built, not found.
The Work- Create operating systems. Design rhythms that help founders make better decisions. Not more meetings. Better information.
- Drive execution. Translate strategy into weekly movement. Know what matters now, what can wait, and what is quietly becoming tomorrow's fire.
- Make invisible work visible. Spot blocked decisions before they become blocked launches. Expose dependencies. Surface uncomfortable truths. Protect momentum.
- Build founder leverage. Great founders shouldn't spend their week chasing updates. You create enough clarity that they can spend their energy where only they can.
- Improve the system. Every venture starts messy. You leave it cleaner than you found it.
Who You Are- Systems thinker. You don't just solve today's bottleneck. You ask why it existed.
- Commercial instinct. You understand that every missed deadline costs more than time. It costs focus. Confidence. Opportunity.
- High agency. You don't wait for ownership. You create it.
- Calm under ambiguity. You rarely have complete information. You move anyway.
- Radical transparency. You never confuse optimism with accuracy.
- Influence without authority. Most of the people you'll work with won't report to you. That doesn't stop you getting things done.
- Contrarian streak. Independent thinker. Arguments from first principles. Unafraid of unpopular positions, including telling a founder the date will move while it's still cheap to hear. You believe the best plans survive open debate. You know how to disagree and commit.
Unicorn Points If
You have enough technical literacy to read a burndown chart and smell sandbagging, or enough SQL or scripting to pull the number yourself instead of asking for it. Or you've managed vendors or physical production, where "we'll fix it post-launch" isn't a sentence anyone gets to say. You are multilingual and a third-culture kid. Bonus, not the job. The job is the schedule, the truth, and the ship date. But if you can also interrogate the work itself.
