Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the quality and food safety function for a high-volume food manufacturing facility operating multiple production shifts.
This position is responsible for ensuring products consistently meet quality, food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Quality team, oversee plant quality systems, maintain regulatory and third-party certifications, and partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation and R&D to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Quality Assurance team, including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Oversee quality testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, SOPs, specifications, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF/GFSI, FDA regulations, and other applicable food safety standards.
- Prepare for and lead customer, regulatory, and third-party audits while maintaining audit readiness.
- Manage food safety programs, sanitation verification, pest control, and certification programs, including organic and Kosher as applicable.
- Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Analyze quality data and identify opportunities to improve product quality, process capability, and operational performance.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Supply Chain to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee quality-related activities with suppliers and co-manufacturing partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of Quality Assurance leadership experience in food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SQF/GFSI, FDA regulations, and food safety systems.
- Experience leading audits and managing regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT.
- HACCP and/or SQF Practitioner certification is a plus.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
