As VP of Business Development and Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s go-to-market strategy, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth. You will lead all commercial functions including sales, marketing, business development, and customer success, ensuring alignment with product development and corporate strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company’s overall go-to-market strategy for novel battery electrolyte solutions tailored for lithium-ion cells (including high-silicon cells, nickel or manganese rich cells, LCO cells, and lithium metal cells).
- Establish and manage key strategic partnerships across OEMs, battery manufacturers, and material suppliers to accelerate product adoption.
- Build and lead a lean, high-performance commercial team including sales, marketing, customer success, and business development as company milestones are met.
- Oversee commercial forecasting, pricing strategies, market segmentation, and customer acquisition plans in emerging energy storage sectors.
- Lead contract negotiations and long-term commercial agreements.
- Collaborate closely with R&D and product teams to align product roadmaps with customer needs and market trends.
- Monitor competitive landscape and industry developments, delivering actionable insights to the executive team for agile decision-making.
- Secure strategic funding opportunities, including government programs and industry partnerships, to support growth initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders.
- Drive customer feedback loops to inform product development and innovation.
- Report on KPIs and commercial performance to the executive team and board.
- Design scalable business models and monetization strategies that support both short-term profitability and long-term revenue growth.
- Spearhead the commercialization of breakthrough battery material innovations—such as electrolyte formulations that support new anode and cathode materials—Crafting scalable go-to-market strategies and monetization models (e.g., licensing, joint development agreements, performance-based pricing) to maximize market adoption and revenue generation.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven track record in commercial leadership roles within advanced materials, battery tech, or cleantech startups.
- Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, particularly challenges and opportunities with high-silicon anodes, high-voltage batteries, and high power electrolytes
- Experience developing innovative business models (e.g., licensing, toll manufacturing, product-as-a-service).
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
