ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES
Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.
All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.
Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build and own Heaviside's corporate development pipeline: identify, evaluate, and execute acquisition and investment opportunities in components, subsystems, software, and manufacturing capability.
- Lead technical and operational diligence on targets, working with engineering, finance, and outside advisors from first contact through integration.
- Develop the strategic supplier and industrial-base ecosystem: domestic and allied sourcing partnerships, NDAA-compliant component strategies, second-source qualification, and long-lead supply agreements that de-risk production at scale.
- Structure and negotiate strategic teaming agreements, technology licensing, and platform/payload partnerships with industry counterparts.
- Lead corporate-level market and industrial-base analysis: technology landscape assessments, build-vs-buy-vs-partner studies, and competitive intelligence to inform executive and board decision-making.
- Support corporate financing activity, including diligence preparation and technical narrative for institutional investors.
- Support expansion of Heaviside's transatlantic footprint, including partnerships and supply relationships through our Norwegian subsidiary.
- Stand up and lead the Boston office as Heaviside's East Coast corporate hub.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 15+ years in the defense industry, with significant experience in corporate development, strategy, partnerships, or adjacent-market growth at an operating company, prime, or investor.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent demonstrated technical depth; the credibility to evaluate hardware, software, and manufacturing businesses on their technical merits.
- Track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing transactions or strategic partnerships — acquisitions, teaming agreements, licensing, or supply partnerships.
- Deep familiarity with the defense industrial base: who builds what, where the supply chain is fragile, and where capability gaps create acquisition or partnership opportunities.
- Working knowledge of the defense market landscape and DoD priorities sufficient to assess where the industrial base is heading.
- Experience operating across engineering, finance, and legal functions; comfort owning a deal from thesis through integration.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills — equally effective in a diligence memo, a board deck, and a negotiation.
- Willingness to travel frequently for target meetings, partner engagements, and site visits.
- U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62); eligibility for a U.S. security clearance preferred.
