Job Description
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support the development, design, and production of educational and outreach materials for nutrition education and public awareness campaigns. This role will collaborate closely with program staff to create engaging visual concepts for social marketing initiatives and educational resources targeted to diverse communities.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, print production, multilingual design layouts, and vendor coordination.
Position Details
- Job Type: Contract (6 Months)
- Schedule: Part-Time, 22.5 Hours per Week
- Work Arrangement:
- Months 1–4: 100% Remote
- Months 5–6: Hybrid (1 day per week onsite in Boston, MA)
- Location: Boston, MA (Remote/Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
Visual Design & Content Development
- Design and produce brochures, booklets, flyers, banner ads, billboards, presentation materials, and other educational outreach resources.
- Create visually engaging marketing and nutrition education materials that align with program objectives.
- Develop layouts and graphics using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
- Support the creation of digital and video-related design assets for public awareness campaigns.
Inclusive & Multicultural Design
- Design culturally responsive materials for diverse audiences.
- Prepare and manage layouts for multilingual publications, supporting up to nine languages.
- Ensure designs meet accessibility, readability, and audience engagement standards.
Print Production & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate print production activities from concept through final delivery.
- Solicit vendor bids through state procurement systems and assist with vendor selection.
- Manage timelines with printers, translators, and external production partners.
- Review proofs and ensure quality standards are met before production.
- Evaluate vendor performance and maintain effective working relationships.
Brand Management & Collaboration
- Maintain organized design files and asset libraries.
- Ensure all materials comply with brand standards and program guidelines.
- Collaborate with program managers, communications staff, and stakeholders to develop effective outreach materials.
- Provide technical design support for presentations, conferences, workshops, and special projects.
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of professional graphic design experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience creating print and digital marketing materials.
- Experience managing print production processes and vendor relationships.
- Experience working with multilingual layouts and diverse audience communications.
- Strong organizational and file management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting public health, education, government, nonprofit, or community outreach programs.
- Knowledge of social marketing and educational campaign development.
- Experience coordinating translation and localization projects.
- Familiarity with state procurement or vendor bidding processes.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
