Job Overview
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to provide treatment and rehabilitation services to patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. The PTA assists patients in improving mobility, reducing pain, restoring function, and achieving treatment goals through prescribed therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities.
- Administer therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and traction as directed.
- Instruct patients in proper exercise techniques and use of assistive devices.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and report progress or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Assist patients with gait training, balance activities, transfers, and mobility exercises.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and treatment recommendations.
- Document patient treatments, progress, and responses in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain accurate and timely treatment notes in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate patient status changes and treatment outcomes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Licensure/Certification- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of practice.
Pay: $60,320.00 - $71,760.00 per year
