Position Summary
Cambrian College’s IT Client Services has an immediate requirement for an IT Technician on a full-time basis. This role works at the Information Technology Service Desk, in classrooms or offices, and at remote campuses.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support for the technologies of Cambrian’s desktop/laptop environments, which requires knowledge of the hardware and software used in these environments.
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot IT equipment and software, along with AV equipment.
- Provide direct support for support staff, faculty, administration, students, and external clients.
- Assist with the purchasing of IT assets.
- Plan and execute the support of A/V set-ups for internal and external clients.
- Maintain documentation and incident information using an ITSM tool.
- Assist in coordinating part-time staff and students supporting the environment.
- Actively participate in special project activities.
- Support external clients and remote event participants (faculty, staff, and students who are offsite).
Qualifications
Required:
- Three-year diploma or degree in Information Technology along with one of the following certifications: CompTIA A+ Certification, CISCO IT Essentials, or ITIL Certification. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Two years of experience in the operation, use, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PC-based microcomputer hardware and related IT equipment and AV equipment; Windows, Mac OS X, Server, and Mobile-based operating systems and the software used on these systems; servers and workstations in a large enterprise server/workstation environment; Helpdesk environments; Network infrastructures; and centralized administration of laptops and desktops.
- Highly motivated professional with excellent interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills.
- Talent to work independently and within a team environment.
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Desktop Support Technician, Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), and other technology-related training are assets.
