Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and post-treatment care to enhance long-term health outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records appropriately.
- Monitor vital signs during appointments to identify any health concerns that may impact dental treatment or require medical referral.
- Uphold infection control standards through sterilization procedures, proper disposal of sharps, and maintaining a sterile clinical environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and documentation practices relevant to dental care.
