Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, safety-conscious Welding Supervisor to lead our day-to-day welding and fabrication operations. As the key link between the fabrication team and management, you will be responsible for ensuring production goals are met, maintaining high-quality standards according to AWS/ASME codes, while fostering a strict culture of safety.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Lead & Mentor: Supervise and assign daily tasks to a team of skilled welders and fabricators in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure Quality: Review blueprints, Mfg. and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS’s) to ensure all welds meet standards.
- Production Scheduling: Monitor workflow, implement process improvements, and ensure on-time delivery of projects.
- Safety Enforcement: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace (6S), ensuring PPE compliance and performing regular audits.
- Technical Support: Serve as the subject matter expert on welding techniques (GTAW, GMAW/FCAW, SMAW & SAW) to troubleshoot problems and reduce rework.
What You’ll Need (Requirements)
- Education: Four-year Vocational or High School Diploma or associate’s degree from a Technical School in Welding. * Must be a United States citizen.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on welding experience in fabrication, welding and NDT, with 2 or 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Certifications: AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of welding codes (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX), symbols, and procedures. Working knowledge of NDT methods of Visual weld inspection, Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection of base metals and welds.
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Proficient in GTAW, GMAW/FCAW, SMAW & SAW welding processes.
- Leadership: Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior staff.
- Physical Ability: Ability to stand/walk for long periods and climb ladders and scaffolding as needed.
