Position Summary
Cambrian College’s School of Community Services / School of Nursing requires a full-time Placement Coordinator starting as soon as possible.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean, School of Community Services and Planning, Institutional Research and Quality, and maintaining a close working relationship with the Dean, School of Nursing, the incumbent will support the building and maintaining of employer placement partnerships and student outreach in preparing students for safe, meaningful placements. Other key duties and responsibilities include:
- Organize and deliver outreach activities, including emails, classroom presentations, and information sessions, to prepare students for safe, meaningful placements aligned with academic and program requirements.
- Collaborate with Coordinators in the Schools of Community Services and Nursing programs to maintain updated information related to placement requirements and deadlines.
- Support ongoing employer placement partner networking, recruitment, and outreach initiatives.
- Create and maintain student placement communications, reports, and tracking systems.
- Support students in submitting required placement documentation through platforms (e.g., Synergy and MyCareer).
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Career Centre to ensure placements are documented and tracked in systems.
- Prepare and provide regular reports and data on placement activity, employers, students placed, and industry trends to the Chair and Dean.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must have a three-year postsecondary diploma or equivalent in Social Service Worker, Community Health Services Navigation, Business, Marketing or a relevant field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Experience in delivery of workshops and presentations in a formal setting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Strong ability to work independently while effectively multi-tasking, prioritizing, and organizing workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with quick analytical and creative thinking to address diverse and complex challenges.
- Proactively identifies opportunities and recommends innovative solutions to meet departmental and community partner needs.
- Advanced computer proficiency, including expertise in email platforms, word processing, internet research, and spreadsheet software. Advanced skills in Excel or similar tools are considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with placement systems (Synergy, MyCareer) is a definite asset.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
