Precision matters and first impressions count. As a First Article Inspection Specialist I (FAIS I), you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and quality, ensuring that customer‑designed products meet exact requirements the first time they’re built.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical ownership, problem‑solving, and documentation with purpose and who wants a clear path to grow within Quality, Compliance, or Engineering.

You won’t be checking boxes you’ll be owning outcomes. The work you do ensures customer confidence, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.
You’ll become the go-to owner of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and a key partner to Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Customers.
What You’ll Do
- Own and prepare AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (Forms 1, 2, and 3)
- Balloon engineering drawings and capture 100% of requirements
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, surface finishes, and special notes
- Validate objective evidence for every dimension and callout
- Review material, plating, anodize, ENIG, and legend ink certifications
- Ensure full traceability from raw material to final inspection
- Manage partial, delta, and re‑accomplishment FAIs
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Suppliers to close gaps
- Submit FAI packages to customers and respond to documentation feedback
- Maintain organized digital records in NetSuite and Box
- Support internal and external audits related to AS9102 compliance
What You Bring
Required
- Technical high school background or 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
- Strong blueprint reading skills with GD&T interpretation
- Experience reviewing material and special‑process certifications
- Familiarity with ERP and document control systems (NetSuite or similar)
- U.S. Person status (required for ITAR compliance)
Nice to Have
- Associate degree or technical certification
- Experience with FAI automation tools (Ideagen or similar)
- IPC, MIL, or aerospace customer specification exposure

Compensation (MA Pay Transparency)
The expected pay range for this role is $20.00 – $35.00 per hour / $38,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, certifications, and internal equity.
