Salary Range: $95,625 - $100,823
The Town of Brookline is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as Director of Veterans Services. This leadership role is responsible for managing all operations of the Veterans’ Services Office, ensuring delivery of high-quality benefits, advocacy, and support services to veterans and their dependents in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws and federal regulations.
The Director oversees the administration of local, state, and federal veterans’ benefits programs, including financial assistance, medical and housing support, and burial benefits. The position provides direct counseling and case management, assists with applications and eligibility documentation, and ensures compliance with all reporting and reimbursement requirements. The Director also manages the department budget, maintains confidential records, and may supervise staff and interns.
In addition to core services, the Director coordinates community outreach and veteran-related programming, including Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and other ceremonial events. The role works closely with local, state, and federal agencies, community organizations, and Town departments, and contributes to broader Health and Human Services initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience; experience in veterans’ benefits administration strongly preferred. LICSW preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Candidates must be an honorably discharged U.S. veteran in accordance with state law.
Must obtain Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services certification within six months and maintain ongoing certification, and achieve U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs accreditation within one year.

This role offers a salary range of $95,625 - $100,823, an excellent benefits package, including generous leave time, comprehensive health plans, and participation in the Massachusetts retirement system.
