About the Role. The Associate Director Commercial Operations serves as the operational owner of commercial supply execution and planning, ensuring reliable product availability across manufacturing and distribution partners. This role translates demand forecasts into executable supply and inventory plans aligned with commercial strategy, proactively identifies and mitigates supply risks, and drives performance visibility through key operational KPIs. Partnering closely with the COO and cross-functional stakeholders, this individual supports launch readiness, post-launch scale-up, geographic expansion, and evaluation of new business opportunities through a disciplined operational lens. In addition, the role will help support our internal corporate communications and PR activities, ensuring external messaging is aligned with business priorities and operational realities. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial acumen, supply chain management, and analytical capabilities, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, scaling biotech environment where cross-functional alignment and proactive communication are critical to success.
Responsibilities
Commercial Supply Planning & Operations (35%)
- Own day-to-day commercial supply operations, ensuring timely and accurate product availability to pharmacies and distribution partners.
- Serve as the primary liaison with manufacturers, CMOs and pharmacies to manage and resolve supply issues, deviations, delays, or shortages impacting commercial supply.
- Ensure accurate documentation and communication of supply plans, changes, and risks to internal stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and update manufacturing and supply schedules aligned with commercial demand and launch forecasts for both API and Finished product
- Partner closely with COO to translate demand forecasts into executable supply plans.
Strategic Growth & Business Expansion Support (30%)
- Partner with the COO to identify and evaluate new business opportunities for commercialized products, including new markets, channels, and partnerships.
- Drive demand growth through F2F, virtual, and other engagements.
- Support ad-hoc strategic initiatives and cross-functional priorities as business needs evolve
Performance Management & Commercial Alignment (20%)
- Support pricing, contracting, and reimbursement readiness by ensuring supply continuity aligned with commercial agreements.
- Participate in launch readiness and post-launch operations planning to support scale-up and geographic expansion.
- Track and report key commercial supply KPIs (e.g., service levels, fill rates, inventory turns, stockouts).
Communications and PR Support (15%)
- Support corporate communications strategy for commercialized products, including product updates, milestone announcements, and market expansion messaging.
- Help support Comms/PR external partners to ensure consistent brand positioning and media engagement.
- Support crisis communications related to supply disruptions, recalls, or commercial challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (advanced degree a plus).
- 6 – 9 years of experience in a related role in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally; estimated at approximately 20% of time
- Proven ability to manage timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, and oversee multiple projects.
- An understanding of FDA guidelines for CMC, API, Distribution is preferred or a strong willingness to learn.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative, hands-on working style.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interest or background in women’s healthwill be a plus in understanding the products and industry nuances.
