About the Role. The (Associate) Director Commercial Operations serves as the primary commercial point of contact for pharmacy and distribution partners, driving demand growth and managing those relationships day to day. This role also owns the operational side of commercial supply - translating demand signals into executable supply plans, managing CMO and manufacturer relationships, and ensuring product availability where and when it is needed. Partnering closely with the COO and cross-functional stakeholders, this individual supports launch readiness, post-launch scale-up, geographic expansion, and identification of new market opportunities. The ideal candidate is naturally commercial and relationship-oriented, with the operational depth to manage supply planning and execution. Strong Excel and analytical skills are required. Experience in specialty pharma, fertility, or pharmacy distribution is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
1. Commercial & Partner Relationship Management (40%)
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for key partners across our pharmacy, distribution and commercial - managing relationships, resolving issues, and ensuring alignment on product availability and commercial priorities.
- Drive demand growth through proactive engagement with clinic networks, HCP’s, pharmacy and distribution partners - in-person, virtual, and at industry events.
- Identify and support new market and channel opportunities in partnership with the COO, including expansion into new geographies or distribution channels.
- Ensure accurate internal communication of commercial activity, partner commitments, and field intelligence to support supply and operations planning.
- Support contracting, pricing, and reimbursement discussions with distribution and pharmacy partners in alignment with commercial strategy.
2. Demand Planning & Operations (35%)
- Own commercial demand and supply planning - translating demand forecasts into executable supply and inventory plans in partnership with the COO and manufacturing partners.
- Manage CMO’s and manufacturer relationships to ensure on-time delivery, resolve deviations or delays, and maintain supply continuity.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing and supply schedules aligned with commercial demand and launch forecasts for both API and finished product.
3. Performance Management & Reporting (25%)
- Support launch readiness and post-launch operations planning to drive scale-up and geographic expansion.
- Monitor and report on distribution partner performance, flagging trends or risks to the COO.
- Track and report key commercial supply and demand KPIs (e.g., service levels, fill rates, forecast accuracy, inventory turns).
- Support corporate communications as needed for product updates, milestone announcements, or supply-related messaging, partnering with external comms/PR resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (advanced degree a plus).
- 6 – 9 years of experience in commercial operations, supply chain, or distribution within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences - pharma/biotech industry experience required.
- Direct experience managing customer and commercial partner relationships in a client-facing capacity - pharmacy, specialty distributor, or fertility/specialty pharma experience is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to manage timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, and oversee multiple projects.
- Strong Excel skills required - experience building and maintaining demand forecasts, inventory models, or sales tracking tools. Salesforce or CRM experience a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative, hands-on working style.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment.
- Proficiency in project management software.
- Interest or background in women's health will be a plus in understanding the products and industry nuances.
