Summary:
The Boston Celtics are seeking a highly organized, service-oriented Family Engagement & Hospitality Lead to support our Basketball Operations department, players, and their families. This role will assist in delivering an exceptional Celtics Experience while helping ensure that players’ families feel supported and seamlessly connected to the organization. This position will collaborate across all of Basketball Operations and report directly to the Vice President, of Team Operations & Organizational Growth.
The ideal candidate will possess a sophisticated background in hospitality and high‑touch service, using that expertise to deliver exceptional support to Celtics players and their families. By proactively anticipating needs, coordinating resources, and navigating the complexities of NBA life, this role ensures that our players receive world‑class off‑court support throughout their professional journey.
Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management & Hospitality
- Primary Liaison: Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for players’ families, agents, managers, and personal assistants
- Bespoke Service: Proactively engage with families to anticipate challenges and provide tailored solutions, fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment
- Hospitality Excellence: Coordinate the "VIP Game Day Experience," including onsite management of family rooms, guest passes, and pre/post-game activities at the arena
- Milestone Celebration: Monitor and acknowledge significant life events (birthdays, anniversaries, achievements) for players and staff with personalized and meaningful gestures
- Programming Coordination: Monthly event programming during season for players’ families and children
- Community Relations: Serve as point of contact and facilitator with Celtics’ Community Engagement group as well as other philanthropic efforts associated with our players
- Seamless Transitions: Lead the "Welcoming Committee" for all newly drafted or acquired players and their families
- Relocation Concierge: Point contact for all aspects of relocation for players (families) and new basketball operations staff
- Orientation: Maintain comprehensive "Welcome Packets" and local guides to transition players into the Boston community and the NBA
- Administrative Operations
- Logistics Management: Facilitate league-wide program coordination and logistics, streamline NBPA communication, and support operational duties as needed
- Family Room: Oversee family room operations within the TD Garden including food services and coordination of childcare
- Compliance: Stay informed on all NBA League and Players Association (NBPA) policies, rules, and programs related to families, and assist in tracking and organizing compliance documentation
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sports, entertainment, or high-end hospitality is preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and modern messaging/scheduling platforms
- Planning, Program Development and Budgeting: Ability to proactively design and develop program plans and associated budgets in advance for successful execution
- Discretion: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest degree of diligence
- Communication: Exceptional active listening, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to manage conflict with poise
- Adaptability: Proven ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and adjust to rapidly changing business conditions
- Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in alignment with the NBA season, and travel with the team as needed during Summer League and the Playoffs
- Relationship Architect: A history of developing strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels

The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $105,000
