Burr Hand (Aerospace Manufacturing)
Location: Southwick, MA or Westfield, MA
Shifts Available:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (25% shift differential)
Position Summary
We are currently looking for a Burr Hand to support our aerospace manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for deburring, polishing, and finishing precision-machined aerospace components to ensure they meet strict blueprint and customer specifications.
This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a high-mix, precision machining environment while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate burring and abrasive deburring tools and equipment
- Deburr both external and internal features on aerospace components
- Create full radius edges according to blueprint requirements
- Blend and finish parts to meet customer surface finish specifications
- Perform fine finishing work using borescopes with magnification up to 30x
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and instructions
- Identify and help resolve production or quality issues to keep work flowing smoothly
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous deburring experience required (aerospace experience preferred)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions
- Experience using tools such as:
- 10,000 RPM air tools
- Cutoff wheels
- Handheld motorized grinders
- Belt sanders
- Wire brushes, scrapers, and files
- Ability to perform both external and detailed internal deburring work
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain production targets and quality standards
Physical & Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with high noise levels
- Exposure to moving equipment, metal edges, oils, cutting fluids, dust, and fumes
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs
- Must be able to read work instructions and customer documents with or without corrective lenses
