The Managing Director, Tournament Solutions serves as the outward facing senior strategic leader responsible for driving profitable growth, strengthening industry authority, and overseeing operational excellence for Tournament Solutions. This role requires a visionary leader with deep industry expertise who can cultivate and maintain key relationships in order to position the company as the premier provider of tournament gifting, customized merchandise, and event solutions.
The Managing Director will drive revenue strategy, lead key customer programs, and represent the company as a recognized thought leader across the golf ecosystem. This executive role requires a proactive, highly strategic communicator capable of forging partnerships at the highest levels of professional tours, governing bodies, OEMs, properties, and associations.
Industry Engagement & Competitive Strategy
- Leverage daily market intelligence from leading industry sources to anticipate shifts, participation trends, and emerging categories
- Build and sustain relationships with decision makers across golf associations, tours, retail channels, and tournament operators to gather real-time insights
- Evaluate customization trends, and product innovations to help guide long-term product and assortment strategy
- Benchmark competitive merchandise programs to ensure continued leadership and differentiation
- Forecast future market needs and adjust strategies proactively to maintain competitive advantage
- Ensure the ongoing development, expansion, and maintenance of the TS proprietary customer database, recognizing the importance of this as a main conduit to the industry and TS customers
- Work to leverage the database in ways that will lead to profitable sales growth.
Thought Leadership and Company Visibility
- Elevate company presence by curating and sharing industry insights through social platforms to reinforce credibility and strategic relevance
- Engage peers, clients, and partners through consistent communication and commentary on trends, products, and tournament strategies
- Track and analyze engagement metrics to refine communication strategies aligned with growth objectives
- Acquire, develop, cleanse and protect proprietary contact databases as core strategies assets.
Operational & Vendor Management
- Provide direction across pricing, product decisions, presentation standards, and customer resolution for Tournament Solutions programs
- Oversee reporting including weekly orders, sales by segment, product performance, and inventory monitoring
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with brand partners, suppliers, and key vendors to ensure high-quality program execution
- Lead point of contact for ongoing direct management and negotiation with 3rd party suppliers, including brand partners and overseas factories, to ensure delivery, margin, and replenishment / fulfillment execution.
Strategic Relationship, Program, and Licensing Management
- Maintain and grow relationships with premier golf organizations including LPGA, PGA TOUR, PGA of America, state associations, and other key properties
- Negotiate high-value partnerships, buying group arrangements, and strategic agreements
- Identify and capitalize on business expansion opportunities within existing portfolios
- Personally manage highly sensitive and strategic orders for LPGA, PGA TOUR, and the USGA, among others.
- Negotiate sponsorship and licensing agreements with major organizations including tours, associations, and other governing bodies
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with brand partners, suppliers, and key vendors to ensure high-quality program execution
Budget, Forecasting & Financial Responsibility
- Deliver performance narratives and insights for senior leadership and board preparation
- Lead the creation and management of sales forecasts, budgets, expense control, and gross margin performance for Tournament Solutions
- Manage budgetary responsibility across sales, gross margin, promotional goods, sponsorships, commissions, and royalties related to Tournament Solutions programs
- Monitor sales performance, expenses, and profitability to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with company goals
- Responsible for fiscal performance of Tournament Solutions.
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to develop internal talent and future leaders for Tournament Solutions
- Monitor performance and maintain morale, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and shared success
- Actively share expertise and best practices with team members and partners
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 12 - 15 years’ experience in customer facing and progressive leadership roles
- Significant experience within the golf industry or closely related tournament merchandising/event solutions environment
- Demonstrated success managing strategic accounts and relationships with nationally recognized governing bodies, tours, associations, private clubs, and major resorts
- Experience negotiating licensing, sponsorships, or other complex commercial agreements
- Strong background in sales budgeting, forecasting, and margin management
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strategic, high-level leadership with the ability to translate insights into business direction and product strategy
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute high-level sales strategies with a focus on customer engagement and revenue growth
- Strong ability to influence and build credibility with decision makers across multiple levels within the account including executives and senior stakeholders
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with a commitment to results-driven execution
- Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships to support business success
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to travel as needed to support key accounts and business objectives
- Ability to demand of himself/herself and others the highest level of personal and professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervisory responsibility for all employees of Tournament Solutions
Physical Demands:
