Job Description
Compliance professional providing support to Brokerage, Import, Distribution, Warehouse Export, and Transcon and our customers. Ensuring Expeditors organization is in compliance by monitoring and regularly auditing all departments. Reporting any non-compliance issues to the Compliance Manager. Maintain all certifications. Responsibilities And Duties
Compliance
Prevent late files/payments by ensuring proper use of the statement management reports.
Ensure Employee reporting is handled in accordance with 19 CFR 111.28 through the Branch ER Contact.
Assist in the enforcement of Expeditors Operational Process Standards, policies and procedures.
Review all Powers of Attorney received by the branch for validity, and review POAs & Questionnaire for completeness; upload valid POA and Importer Questionnaire into the POA Tool.
INTERNAL REVIEWS AND MONITORING
Back Up for Compliance Auditor Conduct daily reviews via IDMA/EDMA (Import Daily Monitoring Application) in accordance with Expeditors’ Import Daily Monitoring Program. Derive training topics from results.
Conduct 361 reviews
Assist Branch Compliance Manager with ensuring all monitoring reports are reviewed timely.
Bond Management – Renewals, sales, insufficiencies customer assistance
INFORMATION
Ensure that branch employees are kept up to date on Customs, DG, Compliance and OGA related developments. Visit customs and OGA websites on a regular basis. Ensure familiarity with all government agencies’ Informed Compliance Publications.
Maintain current editions of required reference materials.
Be a knowledgeable and reliable resource for the branch and customer
Act as liaison between the branch and CHQ Compliance
Attend monthly Brokerage, Export, DG & TSA/Compliance Managers’ Conference Calls.
POST ENTRY
Ensure proper and timely filing of PSCs, protests, petitions, supplemental duty tenders, etc., in accordance with regulatory, OPS and CHQ guidelines.
Report all penalties and liquidated damages to U.S. and Canada Compliance Manager.
Manage all post entry activities, from start to finish, using PEMA.
TSA
Maintain Veroot and AR list
Attend Monthly TSA and CCSF Calls
DANGEROUS GOODS
Keep regulatory reference material and resources updated
Ensure that only DG certified personnel handle DG shipments
Ensure that personnel are aware and adhering to DG Regulations and Expeditors Policy
TRAINING
Prepare and hold training sessions on a regular basis for Compliance
Problems discovered during the daily reviews (IDMA & EDMA)
New compliance procedures
Assist all personnel with compliance-related questions and issues Educate the customer
Attend Customs seminars/trainings
SALES/MARKETING
Support sales staff and product managers with new business development, as needed.
Physical Demands
- Use of standard office equipment - computer with keyboard and mouse, phone, copy/scan machine, etc.
- Functions performed primarily while seated/standing at desk
Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Passed background check
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require future sponsorship for employment Visa
- Must have the ability to work overtime in support of department needs
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized

Desired Qualifications :
- A passion for Compliance and doing the right thing.
- A minimum of two (2) years at the Company (not required)
- Demonstrated understanding of applicable Trade Compliance laws and regulations
- Strong familiarity with, and continued pursuit of proficiency in Expeditors’ operating systems, including GCI, CFIT, EDMS, ETMS, and, where applicable, third-party systems used to conduct Expeditors’ transactions.
- DG Certification (U.S. Imports)
- U.S. Customs Broker License (Preferred)
- IATA/FIATA Cargo Certification (Preferred)
- College/University or equivalent business qualifications (Preferred)
