We are looking for a passionate Speech Language Pathology Assistant to join our team at Berkshire Meadows! Our residential program offers services in various settings, including residential care, special education, and day habilitation, for children and adults with severe developmental disabilities, encompassing significant cognitive, physical, and medical challenges. We are seeking a speech provider who can work in person, ideally full-time, with some flexibility in hours.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $58,000 to $65,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.
Sign-on Bonus: We are offering a $3,000 sign on bonus ($1,000 paid at time of hire, $1,000 paid after 3months of employment and another $1,000 paid after 6 months).
What You'll Do:
Resident Assessment, Treatment Planning and Treatment Functions
- Deliver direct services and consultations to clients in accordance with their IEPs and other directives.
- Offer support and training to staff on strategies and resources for effectively working with clients.
- Share relevant data and information with the Treatment Team regarding individual clients.
- Assist with necessary assessments and implement prescribed remedial treatments as directed by the SLP.
- Conduct phonetic analyses of speech capabilities by testing articulation of all sounds.
- Aid in the development of a comprehensive communication system for each client using a total communication approach, under the guidance of the SLP.
- Create supportive materials for communication and related plans, such as PECS and visual schedules; monitor their usage and train staff on effective implementation.
- Model the use of AAC devices and low/no technology communication systems.
- Provide training and modeling to staff, ensuring they are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.
Continuity of Care Functions
- Maintain open communication with your supervisor; attend assigned meetings and review assignments on a daily basis.
- Support and adhere to all care plans for each individual.
- Collaborate with other professional staff to implement therapeutic programs.
- Follow treatment plans and behavior programs created by treatment teams.
- Schedule individuals for communication therapy sessions.
- Refer individuals suspected of having hearing issues to nursing for further assessment.
- Work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams with other professionals, supporting client goals across various departments.
- Implement communication programs using total communication methods and other communication devices.
- Participate in Treatment Planning on assigned Treatment Teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- A valid SLPA License is required. (We welcome candidates currently pursuing their license and offer supervision and training to enhance your professional skills. Out-of-state certifications will also be considered. Tuition reimbursement is available for those not fully certified.)
- All new employees must provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19.
- Candidates with current CPR certification is preferred; training will be provided if needed.
- Candidates must be able to work independently without supervision.
- A valid driver's license is required.
