Riad & Associates Internal Medicine is looking for an experienced Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to work in their Physician’s Office Laboratory in Hyannis, MA. Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and will be responsible for the following:
- Operation of Hematology (Sysmex XN430), Chemistry (Alfa Wasserman ACE) and Microbiology (SpotFire) instruments, including quality control, calibration, maintenance, validations and troubleshooting.
- Maintain competence to perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease.
- Evaluate results of calibration and quality control and implement corrective action when indicated.
- Determining performance specifications for new methods.
- Confirming and verifying results through knowledge of techniques, principles, and analyzers and deliver results in a timely manner.
- Monitoring safety programs in compliance with laboratory regulations (CAP)
- Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) or other methods to accurately and effectively report patient results.
- Adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure patient privacy and maintain the highest level of safety and reliability in testing.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents for continuous operation of instrumentation.
- Participate in Proficiency Testing per regulations.
- Able to communicate effectively with other Staff members.
- Work as a Team with other Staff members to deliver quality patient results.
- Treat coworkers, patients and vendors with respect.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in medical laboratory science from an accredited college or university with one year of structured clinical laboratory experience in the general areas of a clinical laboratory, including Hematology and Chemistry or
- Associates Degree in medical laboratory science from an accredited college or university with three year of structured clinical laboratory experience in the general areas of a clinical laboratory, including Hematology and Chemistry
