Full time QA/Infection Control Nurse
On call rotation every 8th weekend

Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance/Infection Control Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the facility’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, as well as overseeing the infection prevention and control program. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, promotes resident safety, and supports best practices in healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance / QAPI
- Coordinate and manage the facility’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on clinical outcomes, resident satisfaction, and quality indicators.
- Conduct audits and monitor compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and care standards.
- Lead and document quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and operational efficiency.
- Educate staff on quality improvement methods, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based practices.
- Prepare and present reports to the facility’s Quality Assurance Committee and leadership team.
- Oversees employee health. Oversees vaccine and vaccination programs of the facility. Administers TB, HepB, Tetanus, Flu injections PRN.
- Oversee, monitor, document, and recommend policies and procedures, treatment changes and adaptive equipment related to infection control, wound care, exposure control, and others as requested. Initiates change as necessary with approval of DNS and Director of Clinical Services.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP).
- Conduct regular infection control surveillance, identifying, tracking, and reporting trends.
- Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state-specific (DPH) infection control guidelines.
- Provide staff education and training on infection prevention, standard precautions, and outbreak management.
- Monitor use of PPE, hand hygiene compliance, and isolation precautions.
- Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate reporting with local health departments.
- Serve as a resource for residents, staff, and families regarding infection prevention.
- Follows-up on needle sticks and all exposures.
Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) preferred or Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or a related healthcare setting.
- Experience in infection control and/or quality assurance preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or completion of specialized infection prevention training (preferred or required depending on state regulations).
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, QAPI framework, and infection prevention guidelines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teaching skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and use of electronic medical records (EMR).
