Job Summary
We are a family-owned jeweler and manufacturer seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Graduate Gemologist to join our team at our manufacturing facility in West Springfield, MA. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in gemology, with the ability to accurately evaluate diamonds and gemstones. This role is essential for providing exceptional service to our network of stores that we supply with finished jewelry for sale, custom designed jewelry, and repairs that customers bring to our stores.
Duties
- Provide professional and expert advice to store personnel to help fulfill customer needs.
- Collaborate with sales staff to educate them on gemstone properties, assisting in the fulfillment of customer orders.
- Pick and match stones to be used in goods we manufacture, for custom orders, and repairs.
- Quality Control finished work from manufacturing and repair, and also finished goods that are sourced from vendors.
- Prepare deliveries to our network of stores of finished goods, customer repairs, and special orders.
- Conduct thorough examinations of gemstones using appropriate tools and techniques to assess quality, authenticity, and value.
- Prepare detailed reports on gemstone evaluations, including grading and identification.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and regularly maintained.
Skills
- Strong understanding of gemological principles, including grading systems for diamonds and colored stones.
- Proficiency in using gemological tools such as microscopes, refractometers, and spectroscopes.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate assessments.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex information clearly to store personnel.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
