Position Overview
The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting, developing, and maintaining Energy Management System (EMS) applications. This role requires strong technical expertise in EMS application engineering, including Power Flow, State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, and Optimal Power Flow (OPF). The position involves close collaboration with business and technical teams to ensure EMS applications meet operational, integration, and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide domain expertise for EMS application engineering.
- Analyze and resolve functional and technical issues in EMS applications, including providing workarounds.
- Sort out data issues or RTU communication issues and provide timely incident resolution.
- Support and maintain EMS application architecture and ensure compliance with security requirements.
- Understand business requirements and map them to functional design.
- Validate alignment of data, integration, and test requirements.
- Develop, test, and deploy databases and displays for new IEDs/ICCP data.
- Build and maintain network topology models and databases.
- Work in collaboration with onshore/offshore teams within a global delivery model.
- Create and manage displays, database entries, and integrations for new systems and devices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address integration technologies used in SCADA/EMS/DMS environments.
- Contribute to project delivery using software development methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
Required Skills And Experience
- Strong knowledge of Power Flow, State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, and OPF.
- Solid understanding of EMS application architecture and security principles.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Knowledge of network topology build requirements.
- Ability to map business requirements to functional designs and validate data and integration requirements.
- Experience working in the Transmission and Distribution domain for utilities.
- Familiarity with integration technologies used in SCADA/EMS/DMS space.
- Ability to work effectively in a global onshore/offshore delivery model.
- Experience with databases and creating displays for IEDs/ICCP data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple EMS products such as GE, Hitachi, OSII, or SE.
- Experience in DERMS applications.
- NERC certification is a plus.
