Summary:
The Videographer role is an integral part of the production team at Watertown Cable Access Corporation (WCA-TV) and contributes to the filming, editing and producing of engaging and informative content for the community. Responsibilities include operating video cameras, audio equipment and related technology both on location and in the studio for pre-recorded or live events for broadcast on WCA-TV’s cable channels, online streaming platforms and for its weekly news program, Watertown Cable News (WCN). In addition to filming sports, government meetings and other events, the role involves editing together full productions, adding graphics for broadcast, and creating short-form videos.
Responsibilities:
- Film municipal meetings, sports, and community events live or pre-recorded
- Operate video, audio, and lighting equipment in field and studio environments
- Edit full programs and create short-form content such as highlight reels and news packages
- Add graphics, titles, and transitions as needed for broadcast and online viewing
- Prepare completed videos for distribution on cable channels and digital platforms
- Work with the Director of News and Studio Operations on the production of various programs, including WCN
- Support WCA-TV’s mission by assisting with outreach, training, or special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- College degree or related experience in film production, journalism, visual arts, or communications preferred
- Basic technical skills in video production, including but not limited to knowledge of camera equipment, lighting equipment, sound equipment, and non-linear editing
- Knowledge of sports and live sports broadcasts preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments
- Ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of production and post-production techniques
- Public access experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs and sit/stand for long periods while operating equipment
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation
