Job Description
The Town of Brewster seeks a qualified, collaborative, and detail-oriented professional to serve as our first Town Engineer. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, this new position is responsible for performing administrative, professional, and technical work related to the Town infrastructure, including design, construction, inspection, maintenance, and quality assurance.
The Town Engineer will provide engineering advice to the Town Manager, Director of Public Works, and Town department heads, regarding the development and maintenance of public works plans, projects, and facilities. Produces surveys, designs, working drawings, and estimates for public works projects such as roadways, parking lots, culverts, drainage systems, parks, and playgrounds. Reviews and designs other public infrastructure projects as needed. Monitors, inspects, regulates, and certifies engineering elements of Town projects to ensure proper quality control and quality assurance.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field with a minimum of five years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Massachusetts Engineering in Training Certification or licensed PE preferred. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication, data analysis, and problem solving skills. Interested? This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position, covered under the Town’s Personnel Bylaw Agreement, with a starting annual salary of $91,249 - $102,731 starting pay dependent on qualifications and experience.
