We are seeking dedicated and skilled Boiler Operators/2nd Class Fireman to join our industrial maintenance team on a part-time basis. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining boiler systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable energy production. Your expertise will help sustain optimal plant operations, support environmental compliance, and contribute to the overall safety of the facility. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about mechanical systems and industrial process control to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and control boilers, ensuring proper pressure, temperature, and water levels are maintained at all times.
- Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to detect irregularities or malfunctions in boiler operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of boiler components, including valves, pumps, and safety devices, to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed logs of operational data, maintenance activities, and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist in emergency procedures and safety protocols to uphold a safe working environment for all personnel.·
- Perform basic maintenance and plan cleanliness.
- Maintain open and strong communication with Chief Engineer
- Any/all duties pursuant to Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
Requirements
- 2nd Class Fireman’s license or higher is required by the State of Massachusetts for this role.
- Proven experience operating boilers or similar industrial mechanical systems; prior work as a 2nd Class Fireman or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in hydraulic and industrial maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and system diagrams accurately.
- Knowledge of boiler safety procedures, environmental regulations, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment; flexibility to respond to emergency situations promptly.
- High energy level
- Ability to lift parts or boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders to open/close valves/levers as needed

Swing Shift: Sunday 4:30 am-12:30 pm, Monday & Tuesday 12:30 pm- 8:30 pm, Wednesday & Thursday 8:30 pm-4:30 am, Friday & Saturday off
