Role Description The Newspaper Journalist will report, write, and produce news stories covering local government, schools, events, and community issues for print and digital platforms. Daily responsibilities include researching topics, conducting interviews, attending meetings and events, fact-checking information, and writing clear, accurate, and engaging articles on tight deadlines. The role involves collaborating with editors and photographers, generating story ideas, and adapting content for online publication and social media. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Westborough, MA, requiring regular presence in the newsroom and the community to maintain strong local connections and informed coverage.
Qualifications
- Strong News Writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging articles for print and digital audiences.
- Solid Research skills, including source verification, data gathering, and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and credibility.
- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling, such as audio, video, or social media reporting, is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent interviewing, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working on deadlines, managing multiple assignments, and collaborating within a newsroom environment.
- Knowledge of local issues and an interest in community journalism are key; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local reporting are required
