Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate
Beantown Biotech is a contract research organization (CRO) based in Billerica, MA providing preclinical in vitro drug discovery services. We offer a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of biotechnology companies for the development of plate-based assays, compound screening paradigms, mechanism of action studies, and assessment of biophysical/biochemical interactions.
We are seeking a talented and self-motivated assay specialist to join our research group in the design, optimization, and execution of plate-based assays across a variety of therapeutic areas. As part of a team, the successful candidate will have a direct role in assay design and communication of data/conclusions to our scientific partners.
Responsibilities
• Develop and optimize cellular and/or molecular plate-based assays to facilitate project goals
• Independently interpret data and communicate results in real-time to scientific partners
• Use an analytical approach to problem solving/troubleshooting to keep projects to timelines
• Increase efficiency and throughput using lab automation
• Ability to write SOPs and maintain an accurate lab notebook/documentation of experiments
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years or master’s degree with 1+ years of quality lab-based experience in cell and/or molecular biology, pharmacology, or commensurate field of study
• Proficient in culturing adherent and suspension mammalian cells
• Experience in cellular and molecular techniques such as Western blotting, qPCR, transfection, transduction, and biochemical/biophysical techniques
• Accomplished in running plate-based assays (e.g. luciferase, AlphaLisa, HTRF, MSD, ELISA, etc.)
• Familiarity with plotting data in excel, prism, or other data analysis software
• Effective communicator; strong self-starter, team collaborator, and ability to multi-task
• Authorized to legally work in the U.S.
Additional Preferred skills:
• Prior experience using MSD, Monolith, Protein Simple (Jess), or QuantStudio instruments
• Comfortable using multi-mode plate readers for high throughput applications (96 or 384-well)
• Hands-on flow cytometry exposure and/or high content imaging experience
