Milestones Day School and Transitions Program is a year-round private special education school located in Waltham, MA and works with students with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and a variety of attention and/or psychiatric challenges. We service students ranging in age from elementary grades through post high school, and our staff work in multi-disciplinary teams to support students in particular grade cohorts. We are currently recruiting for a BCBA - Board Certified Behavior Analyst to join our team.
We offer a unique and intensive year-round academic and therapeutic programming in a state of the art building. Our students are highly supported by a full clinical staff working on multidisciplinary teams that consists of Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Principals, Mentor Teachers, Reading and Math Specialists, and Directors. We have a low student to staff ratio and our population consists primarily of students with diagnoses on the Autism Spectrum, Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders.
This position will focus on the social and emotional development of the students with relation to their behaviors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultation to classroom staff regarding the integration of behavioral interventions in the classroom.
- Conduct, write and report on comprehensive Functional Behavioral Assessments.
- Create behavior plans for students with a variety of behavior challenges (e.g., non-compliance, refusal, etc.)
- Train staff on Universal best practices, behavior plans, intervention, and implementation.
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute by writing behavior goals and progress reporting.
- Become certified as one of severals trainers in Crisis Prevention Intervention and train other staff members on how to implement this methodology.
- Collect, graph, and interpret data for students presenting with behaviors that impede learning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a Master's degree and active BCBA certification is required.
- 5 + years of relevant experience is preferred, including experience with students with high functioning autism.
- Passion for special education and proven ability in behavior management.
- Strong ability to take initiative, manage strategically, and respond functionally on a day to day basis.
-Enjoys working as a consultative member of multidisciplinary teams within a therapeutic milieu.
Demonstrated ability to understand students as a whole and collaborate on developing appropriate interventions.
- Strong writing skills, analytical abilities, and effectiveness with staff training.
