The Jr. Celtics Academy is the official youth basketball platform of the 18-Time World Champion Boston Celtics, which is dedicated to improving positive youth development in the community through highly engaging basketball programs teaching the standards of Celtics basketball to kids, coaches, referees, and parents.
Jr. Celtics Academy provides New England’s youth with inclusive and unique basketball experiences, using fun and professionally proven techniques to teach youth both basketball and life skills, creating the next generation of Celtics fans. We see ourselves as the continuously developing source of Truth for youth basketball in New England.
Do you want to help shape the future of youth basketball? Are you passionate about teaching the game and positively impacting young people? If so, this part‑time opportunity is for you. This role will support Jr. Celtics Academy operations, including camps and clinics throughout Summer 2026, playing a key role in delivering meaningful, fun, and memorable basketball experiences across the region. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Head of Youth Basketball Development.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate on-court training and skill development to youth basketball players
- Design and implement activities emphasizing fundamental skill improvement, understanding of the game, and positive character growth
- Serve as a positive role model to participants by being an active and hardworking leader
- Build a positive environment where participants can show up and do their best on and off the court
- Pre-event set up and post-event breakdown
- Pro-actively greet parents and consistently engage with participants
- Grow Jr. Celtics Academy network through existing and new relationships with youth basketball organizations and facilities in the community
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience in a related field
- Professional experience in education and/or coaching not required but strongly preferred
- Ability to engage with a wide age range of participants and ability levels
- Overall dedication and understanding of youth development basketball training
- Exhibit unwavering passion for the activities with a keen focus on safety
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Available to work Monday-Friday throughout June-August 2026
The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
Hourly Rate Range: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
