Overview:
Softworld is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to support a long-term project within the Technical Communications Group of a leading defense organization. While based remotely, this role requires periodic onsite presence (approximately 4–5 days/month or more as needed) in Lexington, MA to support meetings, events, and production activities.
You’ll be embedded with the Finance, Strategy, and Transformation (FS&T) team and will act as a liaison to Technical Communications and production teams to execute impactful, measurable communication strategies. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level communications professional with experience in finance-related content creation and change management communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic internal communication plans for finance-focused initiatives.
- Serve as a brand ambassador and creative communications consultant across print, digital, presentation, video, and web content.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, editors, developers, and multimedia teams to deliver high-quality deliverables.
- Embed within FS&T and support enterprise-wide change management efforts.
- Help ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across all communications.
- Support events and project-based onsite activities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience in communications, preferably in a finance or corporate environment.
- Proven ability to develop communication plans supporting organizational change efforts.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and information design skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting communications for finance teams or transformation programs.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools.
- Exposure to web-based content delivery and digital communications strategies.
- Understanding of change management frameworks or a willingness to learn and apply them.
- Previous experience working within a Technical Communications team or matrixed project environment.
- Comfortable supporting enterprise-wide communication campaigns and live/virtual events.
